It took Splinter longer than he’d care to admit to gather up enough courage to go visit Swanatello at the lake. The idea of his child not only failing to recognize him but also rejecting him and driving him away was absolutely terrifying to him. But after a couple weeks, he found that he wanted to see Donnie much more than he was afraid.

Donnie doesn’t remember him all the time. But he did on that first visit. Splinter is the only one that Donnie always recognizes right away. He either recognizes him or he doesn’t– there’s never any hesitation or cloudiness when it’s his dad. When he is able to recognize him, he recognizes him beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Donnie was so hideously overexcited that first visit that Splinter had to sit with him for a while just to settle him back down. Donnie didn’t realize, on this particular day, that anything was wrong with his situation– but he did know who his Dad was, and could recognize that it felt like he hadn’t seen him in a while.

(Barry, on the other hand, Donnie has never once recognized nor met with anything less than complete and utter hostility on any of his visits.)

Also–

It hasn’t really come up. Part of this is because when Splinter visits, he’ll often sing so that Donnie has music to dance to. Donnie doesn’t want to tell him that he already hears music for fear that he’ll stop– so he never mentions it.

Mutant Mayhem Experience

East Coast 🍕🍕🍕🍕

"East Coast,where you at?" 🐢🐢🐢🐢

I went on Monday, lucky enough to catch a noon slot,when this event was immediately posted by Paramount Pictures.

New York City does not get too many of these,unless it's connected with New York Comic Con in October and then you are "competing" with thousands of people and bots snatching up all the time slots.

It was great to see so many kids wearing their TMNT t-shirts on line with their parents,who grew up with TMNT back in the 1980s.

But,boy was that summer heat beating on our heads, (I wore my cap) as we waited for our turn to go in. They can only allow a certain amount on, because it is very,very narrow and we did end up in a bottle neck when we got to the punching bags.

Since I shoot with an actual camera,trying to take photos inside was out of the question with lighting,strobes and small space until the end.
